VICPA/VICNISS Journal Club - WHERE'S THE EVIDENCE?
The VICPA/VICNISS Journal Club has been initiated with the aim of providing a forum for infection
control professionals to more widely engage with literature and published data in the field. Objectives include:
- Critically appraising journal articles and data, and considering the implications of
study results for infection control practice.
- Recognising the strengths and weaknesses of methods used in reported clinical
research in the field.
- Providing opportunities for professional development of infection control
professionals through presentation to peers.
- Reviewing and discussing current state, national and international trends in infection control.
- Identifying gaps in the published literature thus highlighting the need/direction
for future research in the field.
- Promoting and supporting high standards of practice and professionalism for infection
control professionals.
- Providing a forum for infection control professionals engaged in research to present their
findings for peer review and discussion.
In 2008 the Journal Club will be held every second month as follows:
February, April (May), June(July), August, October (no meeting due to AICA conference), December. Dates and venues from August onwards are currently
being finalised and will be available on both the VICPA and the VICNISS websites shortly.
