Participating Hospital and Health Care Worker Resources

As well as providing telephone and email support on an ongoing basis to staff at participating hospitals, the VICNISS Coordinating Centre also provides a number of resources (many available in hard copy or in online forms) to support participants in the program.

Staff at the VICNISS Coordinating Centre are also available to discuss the program with key stakeholders and other health care workers.

Resource Description and Links
Participating Hospitals View the lists of Victorian health care facilities, including links to their websites, and their Infection Control Coordinator contact details, participating in Type 1 and Type 2 surveillance.
eBulletins A VICNISS eBulletin is sent to all participating hospitals and key stakeholders, and other interested parties every second month. Items in the eBulletins include recent news, adjustments to the surveillance program, and issues arising etc. Click here to access previous eBulletins, or to subscribe if you are interested.
Surveillance Reports Participating hospitals in Type 1 and Type 2 surveillance can view and download their own past and present hospital level data and VICNISS aggregate data reports, including documents to assist in interpreting the reports and How to Create your own Charts / Graphs in Excel. Performance Indicators View and download the current Performance Indicators for participants for Type 1 and Type 2 surveillance.
Surveillance Manuals and Forms View and download the most updated manuals and/or data collection forms for Type 1 and Type 2 surveillance, including the user guide for VICNISS Web Based Data Collection Forms (Web Forms).
ICD-10AM Codes View and download the ICD-10AM Codes for VICNISS Procedure Groups. Two lists are available - one list represents procedures that Type 2 participating hospitals are likely to require. The second list is the complete VICNISS list that Type 1 participants use.
VICNISS Staff Support VICNISS employees are available to give presentations for different groups or are available for individual site visits where required. For more information see VICNISS Support

User Group VICNISS User Groups are designed for discussion and feedback relating to issues arising in Type 1 surveillance. Find out about membership details and future meetings.
Literature Reviews See Literature Reviews to access periodical reviews provided by VICNISS.
Online Learning Modules Primarily developed for Type 2 Surveillance participants, the purpose of the Learning Modules is to provide an alternative educational resource for health professionals involved in infection surveillance. It is one of many educational strategies designed by VICNISS.
